ABOUT THE AUTHORS

CINDE LOCK
Cinde Lock has a PhD from Queen’s University and over 30 years of experience as a leader in education, both in Canada and abroad. Having worked internationally in Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Trinidad, and South Korea, she is passionate about creating meaningful and motivational learning experiences for students.
Cinde is Head of School at Pickering College, an independent day and boarding school in Newmarket, Ontario and sits on the Board of the Academy for International School Heads (AISH). During her time at Branksome Hall Asia, she was honoured with the Contribution of Leadership to Korean Society Award and the school received the prestigious International School of the Year Award from ISC Research. Pickering College, Cinde’s current school, has received global recognition, earning the acclaimed ST award for Best North American Secondary School the last two years running.
ANNEKE LEE

Anneke Lee is an avid writer with a passion for linguistics and international relations. Fluent in English, German, French, and Korean, she is fascinated by the ways in which language and etymology reveal fundamental truths about how we learn and how our brains develop knowledge over time.
Anneke has travelled extensively and experienced schooling in a variety of cultural contexts, including those that employed CAP models as well as those with traditional programs. Each school, with its own unique philosophy, shaped how she views education and made her passionate about everything that school could be.
